This course is developed for women preparing for short or longer trips or stays in countries with an increased risk-potential or regions that, due to socio-cultural particularities, require a thorough preparation.

Participants benefit from a comprehensive training that helps them build awareness for the cultural particularities and potential risks in certain countries or regions. The purpose is to give participants the skills they need to master both common everyday challenges around personal care as well as to identify and avoid potentially dangerous locations and situations as well as to handle with critical or hostile encounters and safely escape from dangerous areas.
 

COURSE CONTENT

  • Travel preparation
  • Risk awareness and assessment of threats
  • Safety rules
  • Mastering challenges regarding personal care and health care
  • Dealing with sexual harassment and violence (Risk identification, de-escalation, control)
  • Responding to attacks on oneself and others
  • Effective self-defence (incl. practical exercise)
  • Cultural awareness: Gender equality and inequality in different cultures

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

  • Physical fitness
  • Minimum age: 18 years
